If we're to read the stars correctly, Childish Gambino's next project, Awaken ,My Love!, is promising to be a very funky good time, as The Godfather would put it. Last week he served up searing early-Funkadelic gospel-rock with the lead-off single "Me and Your Mama." Today he returns with a ballad in the key of Bootsy, premiering the album's latest single "Redbone."

Interpolating and transforming the bubbling "I'd Rather Be With You" groove, Bino squeels and squalls his way through thick bass pops and fuzzy chords before the track disipates with dueling guitar melody. There's no telling whether this P-Funk spark will carry through all of Awaken My Love!, but with the album's release just a few weeks away (December 2nd) we wont have to wait much longer know for the full reveal (though that Maggot Brain-y cover should be some indication.) Hear the latest track from Childish Gambino's anxiously-anticipated new album down below.
