Is It True That Kendrick Lamar Will Never Match Up To 2Pac?

Charlamagne Tha God Says Kendrick Lamar "Will Never Match Up" To 2Pac

Montreality, the popular hip-hop interview series, sat down with The Breakfast Club‘s own Charlamagne Tha God to get his thoughts on the game today plus the frequent comparisons between Kendrick Lamar and Tupac Shakur. The “architect of aggravation” didn’t hesitate to share his beliefs that the two artists are not on the same level.

“No, they [Tupac + Kendrick] will never match up,” Charlamagne Tha God said while discussing the two West coast legends. “And we need to stop doing that to the new guys. We have to stop putting them on the same level as ghosts. And what I mean by ghosts are guys like Tupac, guys like The Notorious B.I.G., guys like Jay Z, Dr. Dre. Those are legendary figures who have already done it. They’ve been through every door that any of these new guys could possibly even think of going through.”

Since Kendrick’s major level breakthrough, the masses have hailed him as the Second Coming of Tupac due to his real world lyrics, his authentic personality and his down home accessibility to the community. While Cornrow Kenny himself has said on the record that there wouldn’t be anybody like Tupac Shakur, the masses beg to differ. The only one who is also championing the cause against the comparison is Charlamagne Tha God. “You gotta think about all the different circumstances that surround somebody like Tupac Shakur,” Charlamagne added. “Tupac is a mythical figure… in order to get to the level that Tupac is, Kendrick would have to go through similar situations or situations greater than that.”

“Kendrick should be working on being the first Kendrick,” Tha God noted.

There’s no question that Compton’s own is crafting out quite the career as the first Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, it is intriguing to ask if there are any other similarities between these two hip-hop juggernauts outside of being down for the community?
