Following a two-week campaign that would give even the most seasoned suit the shakes, Chance The Rapper has released this third mixtape, Coloring Book. It arrives three years after his critically adored sophomore record Acid Rap; a hip-hop record perfectly of it’s time, propped up on a deep gospel foundation (and borderline devout appreciation,) a sound that’s become distinctly his own throughout the years since, racking up countless features that hit all over the spectrum, from Action Bronson to Madonna, all bearing his uncanny spirit no matter how sonically distant.
With Coloring Book, Lil Chano from 179th will attempt to show us precisely why Ye was thanking him just as The Life Of Pablo was about to land (though anyone that’s heard “Ultralight Beam” even once knows that answer.) And he’ll do so with quite the supporting cast, as the track list features the likes of Kanye West, Jay Electronica, Francis & The Lights, D.R.A.M., Kirk Franklin, Jeremih, Justin Bieber, Towkio and plenty more. There’s even an outtake for you to hear that was allegedly axed at the last minute due to sampling clearance complications.
