The comedian also shared his thoughts on former presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren.

Twenty years after The Original Kings of Comedy debuted, Cedric the Entertainer confirms a reunion might be on the horizon.

In a new interview with Variety and iHeart's podcast The Big Ticket, the comedian touched on the reunion, his close relationship with a friend who happens to be a supporter of Donald Trump. He also briefly spoke about Massachusets senator and former presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren. Cedric previously endorsed Joe Biden, during the interview, he touched on why he did.

Directed by Spike Lee, The Original Kings of Comedy (2000) featured Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey and D.L. Hughley. If you think back to the year 2000, the film was considered a box office success. The comedian's careers were catapulted to a higher level after the film debuted, it would later be released on DVD.

Five years prior to the launch of the blockbuster, Cedric pivoted from stand-up comedy to acting. This would prove to be a success for him, he would go on to star in a plethora of films and sitcoms including The Steve Harvey Show, Kingdom Come, Barbershop and more. When speaking on the Kings of Comedy reunion he shared, “It seems like it may be actually getting a little closer.” He added, “There’s some talks of possibly doing a very limited run for the fun of it, doing like a 12-city run.”

During another point of the interview, he candidly spoke on why he stays away from Trump jokes. "On any given night, there’s 50 million Trump jokes. So I started to stay away from it."

On his friend who is a Trump supporter:

"I remember early on in Trump’s candidacy, people had real falling outs with friends. I’ve got a great friend who is a Trump dude, and he still to this day makes me laugh a lot, but he’s a Trump guy. I remember I had friends like, ‘How do you even hang out with this dude?’ I’m like, ‘If we talked about Trump the whole time we was together, that’d be one thing,’ but he’s been my friend before and I didn’t even know he was a Trump dude until this thing came out. He is who he is."

When speaking on young supporters of Bernie Sanders he touches on why he believes they're heralding the Vermont senator. "It's a lot of young people who ride with Bernie and mainly because even though he's a 78-year-old man, somehow young people feel like he's their guy. A lot of the socialist policies, I feel they're going to be very hard for the other side to switch to," he said.

On why he's endorsing Biden he shared the following:

"He's been around a long time, he's been through a lot stuff throughout America's history being on many different sides of many different issues. But, he's one that I believe that those relationships are very important in the idea of governing and who you know and how you can get things done. I'm a little concerned about age."

On Elizabeth Warren:

"There’s something about Elizabeth Warren I like as a feisty campaigner. She seems like the sweet little lady with the sweater on, going to make some tea, but she is gangster with it. Somebody like that would be fun to have on this TV show, just to have them show up in this environment."

Cedric the Entertainer was finishing up filming his latest sitcom The Neighborhood starring Tichina Arnold, Max Greenfield and Beth Behrs. The series follows Calvin Butler (Cedric) in a mostly black neighborhood in Los Angeles and the results of Midwesterner Dave Johnson moving next door to Calvin. At the moment, the show is in its second season, but due to the spread of coronavirus, the series has halted filming.
