Bun B Speaks Out in Support of Megan Thee Stallion Following L.A. Shooting

In an Instagram Live video, Bun B expressed his thoughts on Megan Thee Stallion’s recent shooting.

“Nobody is talking about it because it’s a black woman,” said Bun B in an Instagram Live session on Sunday where he shared his views on Megan Thee Stallion’s recent shooting.

The Texas legend stood in solidarity with Megan and also dug into why he doesn’t agree with how society has been reacting to the incident since the news broke on July 12. “Fuck Tory Lanez and I don’t care if this goes viral or none of this shit. I’m from Houston and if somebody would’ve done something to Megan in this city, we would’ve rode,” Bun B said.

On the topic of standing up for Megan despite knowing Tory Lanez he said:

“As an OG in Houston, I’m standing up… I know Tory, I know his manager… Fuck all that though… If he has some mental health issues, get him some therapy. You not just going to sit here and shoot this girl and we not say nothing… Anytime a man hurts a woman that’s obsession, that ain’t love. He had no reason to shoot this girl.”

He added, “Megan in L.A. by herself, it’s just her and T. Farris. She ain’t got a momma no more, her mom is gone. Her daddy is gone, her grandmother is gone. All the people that loved her and cared about her unconditionally, that looked out for her, would’ve protected her ain’t there.”

Later in the live streamed video Bun B shared that Houston loves Megan, but no one is speaking up about her shooting. “We love Megan, we brag about her, but no one is saying nothing when she gets shot.”

At the moment, Bun B is one of the three hip-hop artists (including Chance The Rapper and 50 Cent) who has spoken out in support of her publicly. He also shared that he believes Black women have sacrificed themselves historically to save and protect Black men, including himself. “I told Megan that we got her back way before this happened,” he said. Janelle Monáe, Halle Berry, Taraji P. Henson and Michael B. Jordan also publicly spoke out on social media. Rihanna, Lizzo and Beyoncé sent gifts to Megan following the shooting.

Last week, Megan declared that Tory Lanez who was previously under investigation for involvement in the shooting in California was who shot her. She also shared a graphic image of her foot to silence the outcries that she didn’t suffer from any injuries at all and that the shooting was a hoax. Alongside stating Lanez was the shooter, Megan also said she didn’t tell the police this at the scene because she was scared that would endanger her life.

Since the shooting Tory Lanez has been inactive on social media and he has not responded to the claims that he shot Megan Thee Stallion.
