'Breaking Bad' Creator Headed To HBO w/ Show On Cult Leader Jim Jones

Surely this writer isn' the only one holding out for a show that will match the brilliance and sustained intensity of Breaking Bad. Many have tried, few, if any, have succeeded. Though the show signed off for good back in 2013, Walter, Jesse, Mike, Gustavo and Skyler will forever live in rarified air as the unforgettable players of television's single greatest accomplishment; a crushing crime-drama to top them all.

Its off-shoot, Better Call Saul, has been gushed over by critics, but not even that has reached the whole left in Breaking Bad's wake. Luckily, it appears that BB and BCS creator, Vince Gilliganis back in the saddle for a new show, Raven, slated to focus on infamous cult leader, Jim Jones, who taught us to never drink the Kool-Aid when he convinced 909 men, women and children to knock a glass back with cyanide in a mass suicide ritual that claimed each and every one of their lives and resulted in many losing their lives in Jonestown, Guyana.

So yeah, there's a ton to work with here. And the fact that HBO will play home to this gripping, likely nauseating telling of that true story, gives Gilligan all of the censor-free space he needs to see it told correctly (not that it ever really held him back.) Breaking Bad and Game Of Thrones director, Michelle MacLaren, is set to join him, though no production schedule or premiere date are set.
