Internationally known, locally respected composer, arranger Michael League (Snarky Puppy) has brought his talents to a new, wonderful super group. Known as Bokanté, this super group has announced an world tour for the summer and offer a preview to their second single from their debut album, Strange Circles.

“Nou Tout Sé Yonn” is rich in sound and substance, blending musical worlds and spreading an urgent message of social awareness that is fresh and informative at the same time. As Bokanté, which means “exchange” in Creole, prepares to hit eight countries, the global super group will also stop at Montreal Jazz, High Sierra, North Sea Jazz, Womad and Newport Jazz festivals. This tour should be a homecoming of sorts as eight of the Bokanté players are from four different continents and will be proud to show off their musical skills to the people in their point of origin.

Lead vocalist Malika Tirolien, who grew up on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, sings in both French and Creole throughout the album and the new single. Painting pictures of struggles, strife and success, racism, the refugee crisis and apathy toward human suffering — Malika and her band offer words and sounds of thankfulness for the things that unify us and grant us some semblance of peace. “Nou Tout Sé Yonn” translates to “Remember We Are One” in English, a necessary and timely message given all the things President Agent Orange and others are trying to do to the world.
