According to a newly released transcript, the Brooklyn rapper alleges he's made tangible changes over the past six years.

Before Bobby Shmurda was denied parole, he had an assortment of ways he looked forward to spending his time once he was released from prison. A newly released report expresses why the Brooklyn rapper won’t be out until 2021.

Per TMZ, board members noted release wasn’t possible due to “multiple violations” which included allegedly having a shank, fighting, and drug possession.  

Shmurda has been incarcerated for roughly six years following his December 2014 arrest stemming from an investigation involving gang violence and drug trafficking. In 2016, he pled guilty to conspiracy in the fourth degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, reports Vulture. 

A transcript from the rapper's September hearing paints a picture of why he believes he should be freed. He told the board that he hopes to resume his music career and wants to do outreach programs with troubled youth. He also shared that he thinks of himself as a “leader” and not a follower. 

Shmurda added he doesn’t have compulsive behavior anymore and takes time to think about decisions before he makes them. He even declared that he walks away from bad situations. 

During his hearing, the rapper alluded to his past. He alleged that when he was younger he got into a lot of trouble because he felt that he’d look like a “punk” if he walked away from fights. He claims he’s different now and too old to dwell on fighting and arguing. 

The personal growth the rapper pointed out clearly wasn’t enough to convince the board. He’s currently set to serve the length of his seven-year sentence at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility. Shmurda won’t be released until December 11, 2021.
