Great things are happening for BJ The Chicago Kid. The Motown-signed soul crooner recently unveiled the album artwork for his long-awaited debut LP In My Mind, confirming that features from Chance the Rapper, Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar (amongst others, we can only presume). Ever since the record's lead single "Church" we've been bristling with anticipation for the new Kid's drop. Here's a sampling of that aforementioned artwork:

Collaborating with TDE artists lke Jay Rock and Lamar was one of the numerous topics that BJ The Chicago Kid touched on during his recent on-air interview with The Breakfast Club. Starting with his background singing Gospel music in the church. "I grew up in church. Thugs go to church too, they go in there and pray," BJ said, cracking up Charlamagne and company. From the harsh realities of Chicago's gang violence to meeting Dr. Dre ahead of recording sessions for Compton, the young soul artist proves that he's lived through more trying and triumphant times than most artists twice his age. "They family...I believe if there was a chain to have, I'd probably have a chain by now" he said of his adopted TDE brethren. As the conversation continued, the group discusses writing for other artists, the draw of the spotlight, working alone in the studio and grinding relentlessly.

"When I'm in the studio don't call me. Leave me alone, like let me do what I'm good at. Music is one of the best things in the world I'm good at..why would you wand to mess up my vibe?" We'll be the last do question him on that. Watch the interview in its entirety below, and be on the lookout for In My Mind, which is slated for an early 2016 drop date.
