Beenie Man Contracts Zika Virus, Forced To Cancel OVO Fest Appearance

After contracting the Zika virus, Beenie Man was forced to cancelhis performance at OVO Fest.

The reggae legend posted a photo on his Instagram with him laying down,receiving medical attention from a pair of professionals. In his caption, he said he was ill with the Zika virus and dengue fever, and that he was deniedentry into Canada for the show as a result.

"No visa fi mi Canada show (I apologize to my fans in case you haven't seen the press release)," hecaptioned the photo. "Zika Virus hol' mi. The same Zika mosquito gi mi dengue. Beenie Man was scheduled to performon Saturday, co-headlining withMachel Montano.

According to the Center of Disease Control, Zika can be contracted by amosquito, or by a pregnant woman to her fetus.

On Saturday, the Florida Department of Healthreleased a statement saying thatfour people in Miami-Dade and Broward counties were infected with Zika by local mosquitoes. There have been more than 1,600 cases of the virus in the United States, butaccording to CNN, theseare the first known cases of the virus being transmitted by mosquitoes in the continental United States.More than 60 countries and territories are reporting local transmission of the virus,
