BBC News Documentary Accuses Tim Westwood of Preying On a 14-Year-Old Girl

In BBC News documentary, Tim Westwood: Hip-Hop's Open Secret, the British DJ has been accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

More sexual assault allegations towards DJ Tim Westwood are coming to the forefront. In new BBC News documentary, Tim Westwood: Hip-Hop's Open Secret, the British DJ and presenter is accused of more than two decades worth of sexual misconduct allegations, dating from 1990 to 2020. One woman claims that she had sex several times with Westwood when she was 14-years-old, according to BBC News. In the U.K., the age of consent is 16.

The woman, who spoke to BBC and The Guardian under the alias "Esther," says that she met Westwood while attending club nights at the London's Arch in Vauxhall in 1990. At the time, Esther and her friends were fans of Westwood's hip-hop show on Capital Radio, occasionally calling the program for a shout-out. As the group became club night regulars, Westwood began allowing Esther and her friends to attend for free.

When Esther revealed her age to Westwood, she says "he didn't look shocked or anything," leading to the two exchanging numbers. Months later, Westwood allegedly began meeting Esther at Hammersmith Station, and would drive her to his flat. When Westwood offered Esther a drink, she declined, opting for a juice before the DJ kissed her.

"I was like, OK, I don't have a problem with that. And then, it progressed from there. We had sex."

Esther claims that the two would continue their meeting arrangements when her mom worked during the evening. At 16-years-old, Esther says she ended their relationship, as it felt like "dirty little secret." Esther is one of multiple women who have claimed that the the 64-year-old used sexual predatory advances towards them and groped them at events over the years.

Although Westwood denies the allegations, in April, he stepped down from his radio show on Capital Xtra.

"Our client confirms that there has never been any complaint made against him, whether officially or unofficially, relating to claims of inappropriate behaviour of the nature described," a spokesperson for Westwood said.
