"This Is Not a Reality Show:" Obama Attacks Trump During Shady Stump Speech

During a speech at a drive-in rally in Pennsylvania, Obama declared, "Donald Trump isn’t suddenly going to protect all of us. He can’t even take the basic steps to protect himself."

On Wednesday, former president Barack Obama delivered a necessary speech in Philadelphia directly attacking Donald Trump. The topics that Obama sharply dug into included Trump’s handling of the coronavirus, his business dealings with China and why Joe Biden is the better presidential candidate.

The scheduling of this important drive-in rally is perfect timing since Biden and Trump are slated to face-off tonight in Nashville, Tennessee. According to CNN, fresh polls point out that the latter would have to perform extremely well in the election to pull off a win. A new CNN/SSRS survey Biden is ahead of Trump in Pennsylvania.

Upon beginning his speech, it was apparent Obama is currently frustrated at the state of the nation. But, as he began speaking he maintained a rhythm that won over the American people years ago. He immediately went for the jugular when he declared that Trump has a secret bank account in China. Details of the account were disclosed in a recent New York Times report.

Can you imagine if I had a secret Chinese bank account when I was running for re-election? They would’ve called me Beijing Barry.” He then adds it is “not a great idea to have a president who owes a bunch of money to people overseas.” This wasn’t it, he even offered up a recollection of his first job at an ice cream parlor when he was a teenager. He appeared to be amused here when he shared that he’d probably paid more in taxes back then than Trump’s mere $750

On the topic of the pandemic, he digs into Trump stating there is “not much” he’d change about tackling the coronavirus. “Really? Not much? Nothing you can think of that could have helped some people keep their loved ones alive?” He then goes on to say, “Joe's not going to screw up testing. He's not going to call scientists idiots. He's not going to host a super spreader event at the White House. Joe will get this pandemic under control.”

The former president also seized this moment to mock Trump. “Eight months into this pandemic, cases are rising again across this country,” he shared. “Donald Trump isn’t suddenly going to protect all of us. He can’t even take the basic steps to protect himself.”

Obama offered his thoughts on everything from Trump tweeting amid a real crisis, to wanting credit for the economy he inherited. "This is not a reality show, this is reality" was one of the most scathing moments of his speech, hopefully, it resonates well with viewers. The message that was looming in the former president’s rhetoric was the fact that America can’t afford four more years under the current leadership. He drove this point home when he declared Biden and Kamala Harris have a plan to get the country out of the “mess” it’s currently in.

He also was sure to emphasize that voters should head to the polls in larger numbers than they did in 2016. "I don't care about the polls. There were a whole bunch of polls last time. Didn't work out. Because a whole bunch of folks stayed at home. And got lazy and complacent. Not this time. Not in this election. Not this time," he shared.
