Punk Legends Bad Brains Are Inviting Their Fans To Upcoming Studio Sesson
The raw musical power of Bad Brains cannot be overstated. Their blend of aggressive punk, reggae, and early hip-hop tendencies made them a legendary live act and have cemented their status as one of the forerunners of progressive black music in the 20th century. However, the group is keeping plenty active in the 21st century as well, and earlier this month announced that they plan to enter the studio to record a new album--and we, the fans, are invited.
Partnering with Woodstock Sessions, Bad Brains has put out a mass invitation for fans to join them in the making of a brand new record. Band members Darryl Jennifer, Dr. Know, and Earl Hudson will be heading into Applehead Recording in Woodstock, New York on May 30th, and anyone willing to pony up $248 will get to join them for the day as they lay down new tracks. "You will be a part of the process as your energy is added to the live recording session," Bad Brains promises to prospective attendees. That might seem like a steep price tag, but considering the day-long studio hang also includes a 180g vinyl recording of the day's work, an exclusive poster, and a post-work Caribbean feast with the band, this might be the ideal early summer hang-out for anyone who's spent ample time rocking out to Bad Brains in any capacity. Jennifer, Know, and Hudson will also host a musical clinic during the afternoon and perform for attendees--so when you factor all that in, $248 seems like a bargain.
Purchase tickets to Bad Brains's Woodstock session here, and if you haven't already done, nab their excellent 2012 LP Into The Future (which was also recorded at Applewood) on iTunes.
