Emerging Sydney band, Middle Kids, have slayed and slammed audiences with great sounds since their 2016 release Edge of Town. Led by singer-songwriter-guitarist Hannah Joy, with Tim Fitz (producer, multi-instrumentalist) and Harry Day (drums) — Middle Kids combine their love of female-fronted indie rock bands with soaring melodic vocals. No better way to showcase how their quiet-to-loud dynamics work than on the video, “Old River,” which you can see below.

Having wrapped their first extensive North American tour, Middle Kids have introduced their brand of hair-raising melodies to the late night audiences such as Conan and on sessions with radio stations KCRW and KEXP. The video adds a layer reality to their anthemic sound and shows off a contagious joy that will place a cemented smile on one’s face. Consisting of footage the band shot while on tour in the U.S., “Old River” offers a glimpse into life on the road for an act rapidly rising in a foreign country.

Watch the video for “Old River” below, and keep an eye out on the calendar for Middle Kids to return to the U.S. this summer. The band will open up for Sylvan Esso at Prospect Park Bandshell as part of Celebrate Brooklyn. They’ll also be in Detroit and Chicago before rounding out in Montreal.
