Rocky had claimed they were acting in self-defense against the two men who had been following them, but the court disagreed.
Per the BBC:
“But the court said the three were ‘not in a situation where they were entitled to self-defence’ and wrote in its verdict that they “assaulted the victim by hitting and kicking him as he lay on the ground.”
Rocky and two members of his entourage, Bladimir Corniel and David Rispers, have been sentenced to conditional sentences, meaning that as long as Rocky, Corniel, and Rispers commit no further crimes during a two-year probation period, they will avoid prison.
“The assault has not been of such a serious nature that a prison sentence must be chosen,” the court said in a statement.
The court awarded damages of 12,500 Swedish Krona (($1,300) to the victim “for violation of his integrity and pain and suffering,” and the defendants were also ordered to pay fees of 80,610 Swedish Krona (nearly $8,400) for the victim’s lawyer, according to CNN.
Rocky hasn’t spoken on the verdict via social media but did issue a statement through his lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic. Jovicic said his client was “of course very disappointed” during a press conference following the verdict.
