A$AP Rocky was detained at LAX after arriving on a private plane from Barbados. The arrest was in connection to a November 2021 shooting.

There's trouble in paradise for father-to-be A$AP Rocky. On Wednesday morning, the rapper was detained at LAX in connection to a November 2021 shooting. According to NBC News, Rocky – born Rakim Mayers – had flown to the airport from Barbados, where the rapper had been visiting with his girlfriend, singer and businesswoman Rihanna.

Met by LAPD officers at his terminal, Mayers was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and taken away in handcuffs.

Mayers's attorney Alan Jackson confirmed that the rapper had been arrested. Per Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Police Department has reported that on November 6th, a shooting occurred near Vista Del Mar and Selma Avenue just after 10 PM that evening. The shooting victim, who survived, claimed that Mayers was walking with two others when he approached the victim and opened fire with a handgun. The victim alleged that Mayers shot at him three to four times and that a bullet grazed his left hand.

Mayers is expecting his first child with Rihanna, and in a recent Vogue interview, the singer spoke about how the two became a couple after being friends for nearly a decade. In the interview, Rihanna revealed that her and Rocky became closer during COVID lockdown in 2020.

“I love the simple things but also the grand adventures,” she said. “There’s no pretentious my-brand-your-brand bullshit, it’s just us living. I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side.”
