Oscar Nominations 2020: Joker Leads With 11, ‘Us’ Actress Lupita Nyong’o Snubbed

The 2020 Oscars will be held Sunday, February 9.

The 2020 Oscar nominations have been revealed.

Joker, the Todd Phillips-directed psychological thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role, leads with 11 nominations including best picture, best actor, best director and best adapted screenplay.

Following Joker were three films with 10 nominations each: The Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.  Jojo Rabbit, Little Women, Marriage Story and Parasite each earned six nominations.

Noticeably absent from the Oscar nominations is Jordan Peele’s Us, the follow-up to his seminal 2017 film Get Out. Us featured a stellar lead performance from Lupita Nyong’o, but the actress wasn’t recognized for this year’s ceremony. Also snubbed was Beyonce, whose song “Spirit” from The Lion King soundtrack didn’t receive a best song nomination.
