Your Old Droog has released a new single that features a posthumous verse from the late Prodigy.

The track is titled “Crab Cakes” and is produced by The Alchemist. The song begins with a verse from Droog before Prodigy takes over, with the Mobb Deep rapper offering verses like the following: “And to the elite club, my society is not a secret/But we pledge allegiance to these hardcore hip-hop beats/I put my life on the line like a EKG/I put my life in these lines, yeah I’m autobiographic/They want me to shut up, my s**t is so graphic.”

Prodigy passed away back in 2017 at the age of 42 following a lifelong battle with sickle-cell anemia.

One of Prodigy’s last interviews before his death was alongside fellow Mobb Deep member Havoc with Okayplayer. The duo delved into their favorite seasonal pastimes and destinations, as well as shared a few guiding principles for the next generation and revealed their most coveted collaboration.

A number of rappers expressed their condolences following Prodigy’s death, including the Wu-Tang Clan. Raekwon recounted recording “Eye for a Eye (Your Beef Is Mines),” which was on the Mobb’s sophomore album The Infamous.

“I remember doing ‘Eye For an Eye’ in Queensbridge and just being there wit’ him. Many moments, just gettin’ in the booth…That’s my family right there. I just want to send condolences out to his loved ones and immediate family. We’re going to hold his legacy down,” Raekwon said in a previous interview with Montreality.
