Watch The Wu-Tang Clan Unite In Teaser Trailer For 'Wu-Tang: An American Saga'
Now we finally get to see what Dave East as Method Man looks like.
A new trailer for Hulu's Wu-Tang: An American Sagahas dropped.
The minute-long video puts a dramatic spin on the rap collective's origins as viewers get to see how its core members — RZA, Raekwon, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Inspectah Deck — all came together. The trailer features The Charmels' "As Long As I've Got You," which RZA sampled for the Wu-Tang classic "C.R.E.A.M."
Wu-Tang: An American Saga will be a 10-part series inspired by The Wu-Tang Manual and Tao of Wu, as well as "the true story of the Wu-Tang Clan," according to the description offered with the trailer. "Set in early '90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan's formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who unites the men torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories."
The series will premiere on Hulu September 4.
Some of the members of the Wu have spoken supportively of the actors portraying them, most notably Method Man, who will be portrayed by rapper Dave East in the Hulu series. Meth also serves as an executive producer on the show alongside RZA.
"I saw it as an opportunity for someone like myself when I first got into it, 'cause there weren't a lot of people giving you a chance to show that you can do it," Meth said about Dave East. "So when I seen Dave's name in the pot I was like, 'yeah he's just like me. He wants to be an actor, fuck it, give him a shot.'"
Earlier this year, the Wu released their documentary Of Mics and Men on Showtime.
