Wu-Tang Clan Announces First ’36 Chambers’ US Anniversary Shows Of 2019

These shows will follow the Wu’s special 36 Chambers shows at Australia’s Sydney Opera House in December.

The Wu-Tang Clan will continue to celebrate their seminal debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), in 2019. The Staten Island rap collective has announced two new shows in the United States honoring the album, with both concerts happening in late January.

The first one will take place at Philadelphia’s Franklin Music Hall on January 25, and the second at New York City’s Terminal 5 on January 26. Tickets for the Philly and NYC shows, respectively, can be purchased here and here. These shows will follow the special performances the group is doing at Australia’s Sydney Opera House in December.

The Wu recently celebrated the anniversary of 36 Chambers as the latest guests to grace NPR’s Tiny Desk series. The group performed a 20-minute set that featured everything from cuts from 36 Chambers to solo cuts like Raekwon‘s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.

A notable moment from the performance occurs toward the end when RZA raps a part of “Duck Seazon” from 1997’s Wu-Tang Forever and omits some explicit lyrics while referencing the #MeToo movement. He also raps something of a freestyle (the lyrics are pre-written as he reads them from his phone) that comes after the group plays one of their most popular songs, “C.R.E.A.M.”
