Nas has teased the release to his Lost Tapes sequel.
The rapper took to Instagram to share a video of himself holdinga a casette tape mold with the words “The Lost Tapes II” engraved in it.
The teaser received responses from Pete Rock, Havoc, and Salaam Remi.
The first Lost Tapes was a compilation album that featured previously unreleased tracks that were discarded from recording sessions for Nas’ previous albums I Am… and Stillmatic. The compilation ended up debuting at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 70,000 copies in its first week.
The Lost Tapes II was intended to be released in 2003 and was supposed to include unreleased recordings, remixes, and freestyle tracks. But the project was delayed and by the time Nas signed with Def Jam in 2006, it was delayed even further. The rapper had even accused the label of mishandling the project and its budget.
Nas had then said that he was going to release Lost Tapes II through his Mass Appeal imprint but a release date never came to fruition. Then came the news that he was going to drop it in 2016 but that didn’t happen either.
Nas didn’t share a release date for the project in his Instagram teaser. Last year, he released his eleventh studio album Nasir.
