Watch Redman Honor His ‘90s Comrades In New “I Love Hip-Hop” Music Video
Yes, we’re still waiting on Muddy Waters Too, but thankfully Redman dropped a solid offering with “I Love Hip-Hop” to tide us over for a bit.
Redman has officially pushed Muddy Waters Too until the first quarter of 2019, but that hasn’t stopped him from wanting to keep it gully for our stankin’ arses. The Dirty Jerz representah has partnered up with Riveting Entertainment for a new video called “I Love Hip-Hop,” which pays tribute to his class of MC and the culture that is still relevant to this day. The video is considered the first of many visuals slated to be rolled out to keep Gilla House fans full and smoked out for the summer. “I can tell the fans that know Redman and my quality of work, that they will not be disappointed,” Red promised fans during a chat with HipHopDX.
“I’m confident about my statement for the reason I’m not afraid. I’m not afraid to represent that ‘90s era and flavor. I’m not afraid to go back to that analog sound and feel, while everyone’s digital. ‘90s fuckin’ rule hands down and you will hear on my album the love I have for my era!” He also further explained Muddy Waters Too delayed saying that sample clearance and usage has been an “exercise in great patience,” as one song, “Errbody Move,” produced by himself and Erick Sermon, cost them $8,000 to clear and about a month-and-a-half of paperwork to complete.
“Teaming up with Riveting Entertainment is fucking fabulous!” continued Redman. “I say that because you don’t have a lot of new school platforms that deal with ‘90s dudes, even though we [are] still relevant and even more relevant than some of these new artists. No bullshit. I just don’t team up with anyone. You have to work hard and smart to accept my presence, can you dig it? Long story short, I’m very hands-on with all my work, and it is good to have a team who believes in it just as much as I do! Big up Gilla House Records and Riveting Entertainment.”
