Ahead of this year’s Grammys ceremony, Robert Glasper rallied his fellow jazz giants — Terrace Martin, Derrick Hodge, Chris Dave and more — for a live and direct jam session, assisted by the legendary Herbie Hancock.
Earlier this week, a clip from their performance was released featuring an appearance from Lupe Fiasco, who riffed with the group (and announced a few upcoming tour dates in rhyme,) before leading them through a pair of his classics. Together, they revamped the Chicago rapper’s breakout single “Kick Push” and his sophomore album standout “The Coolest,” for a packed crowd at the Teragram Ballroom.
But it’s only a warm-up for Fiasco. Next month, he’ll hit the road to perform his debut album, Food & Liquor, in its entirety. Seven dates have been announced thus far and tickets are on sale now.
Watch Lupe Fiasco perform “Kick Push” and “The Coolest” with Robert Glasper and Herbie Hancock in Los Angeles below.
