Earlier this year, Showtime announced the acquisition of the new documentary Hitsville: The Making of Motown in celebration of the legendary label’s 60th-anniversary. Now, the film’s first trailer has arrived.
Collecting new and archival interviews with Motown vets (Berry Gordy and Smokie Robinson) and lifelong admirers (Dr. Dre and John Legend,) the trailer offers an insider’s lens into the iconic Detroit institution. According to Billboard, the film’s release will be punctuated with an accompanying compilation album, featuring hits from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, The Temptations, Martha Reeves, The Jackson 5, and more.
Hitsville: The Making of Motown will debut on August 24th at 9pm EST. Watch the film’s first trailer below and hit the link to pre-order your copy of the compilation album ahead of its August 16th drop.
