The Cypress Hill producer shares a career-spanning documentary short alongside the release of his new instrumental album, Dies Occidendum. 

Over the course of more than 30 years, DJ Muggs has taken innumerable forms. As a founding member of Cypress Hill and an accomplished solo act touting recent collaborations with Roc Marciano, Mach-Hommy, Tha God Fahim, and CRIMEAPPLE, the Queens-born producer has been an integral component to disparate eras of rugged and raw underground rap.

His latest album, Dies Occidendum, builds out on his grungy psyche rock insignia. But it's also a borderline cinematic outing for the producer. According to The FADER, the project was intended to score a film that has yet to be released. However, as a placeholder, the producer has shared a career-charting documentary short. Clocking in at eight-minutes-long, Past In Prologue positions the producer's storied past as just the beginning, chronicling his spiritual and artistic evolution over decades of collaborative work. The abbreviated doc is edited by David Lynch affiliate, Dean Hurley, who attributed Muggs' resurgence to his "ethos of always pushing forward."

"Muggs is not someone who rests a second on past laurels, and it’s fascinating to me how his story is unfolding and expanding," Hurley added.
