For over a decade now, an unreleased Nas collaboration with Just Blaze floated around the Internet. The full version of the track, titled “The Scientist,” has yet to surface online. However, we now know the track features another legendary rapper.
On January 16, a YouTube channel titled “S C” posted a 15-second snippet of what appears to be a Jay-Z verse over the track. The two have collaborated on multiple occasions since burying the hatchet in the mid-2000s, so it wouldn’t be completely surprising.
The channel, launched in 2014, specializes in rare Roc-A-Fella content. Other videos include rare interviews and freestyles with Tim Westwood and Angie Martinez as well as ads for Blueprint 2.
Just Blaze and Jay may be prepping for a few big releases. Last week, Jay Electronica spontaneously announced that his album was done. Blaze chimed in, asking “Are you watching closely?” Electronica has also indicated Jay will appear on the forthcoming album. If his tweets hold up to be true, the album will arrive on March 18. Last week, Big Sean revealed that Nas may be on the verge of releasing a new album.
It is unclear whether the full version of this Nas and Jay-Z track will ever be released. In the meantime, be sure to let your imagination run wild with loose conspiracy theories.
