Tyler, the Creator Just Broke a Vinyl Record with ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’ Release

On the Billboard 200 Albums chart, 2021 Tyler, the Creator album Call Me If You Get Lost returned to No. 1 following its vinyl LP release.

Tyler, the Creator is breaking history this week. After releasing the vinyl pre-order for his 2021 album Call Me If You Get Lost a few weeks ago, the rapper scored #1 on the Billboard 200 chart,  49,500 copies of the vinyl through his web store, per Billboard.

The vinyl release of Call Me If You Get Lost has made history as the largest sales week for a rap album on vinyl since Luminate began tracking music sales 1991. The album’s vinyl release was first announced to Tyler’s social accounts on Wednesday, April 6th, with the rapper linking the web store for fans to purchase the $35 standard black double-LP. On Friday, April 8th, it was announced that the vinyl would begin shipping on Tuesday, April 12th, with copies beginning to arrive on Friday, April 15th – also the week of chart tracking.

In December, Kid Cudi last held the crown for largest week for a rap set, or solo male album on vinyl with his release of Man on the Moon III: The Chosen, selling 41,500 copies on wax. Other recent albums to return to the #1 spot after being released to vinyl include Taylor Swift’s Evermore and Fearless (Taylor’s Version), and Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour.

At the 2022 Grammy Awards earlier this month, Tyler won Best Rap Album for Call Me If You Get Lost, his second time receiving the award since 2020 where he won the same category for his 2019 album IGOR.
