The Round-Up: Best Songs of The Week ft. The Roots, Aminé, Jessie Ware and More [Playlist]

Source: Youtube

22 of the weeks best cuts from household names and newcomers alike

Iknow, I know — it’s been two long weeks since our last episode of The Round-Up. But your boy was in dire need of some R&R and the PNW welcomed these tired eyes with open arms. Needless to say, unplugging for a week-plus had me a little out of the loop, though the cuts kept coming. So consider this week’s edition as necessary a reference point for me as it is for you, dear reader.

HEAR: STREAM AMINÉ’S DEBUT ALBUM GOOD FOR YOU

Today, saw the release of Aminé’s debut album, while time-tested powerhouses like Diddy bridged the gap between the Golden and Mumble ages, and summer-ready remixes rose for some of the year’s best selections (Seven Davis Jr.‘s “Sour Mango” flip and Sly & Robbie‘s dancehall-infused “July” recalibration are of particular note here.) Then there’s the comebacks: Jessie Ware, Star Slinger, Action Bronson and Eric Roberson leading the charge. Basically, the season’s at the top its bell and while the releases remain steady, they are slightly better spaced, which gives you just a few more moments to take it all in before the next batch arrives.

HEAR: THE ROOTS AND BILAL SHARE POWERFUL DETROIT COLLABORATION “IT AIN’T FAIR”
