A roll-call of the week’s finest frequencies
Just when you thought the summer had run its course, a few late submissions arrive for “Best In Show.”
This week, we have a grip of new heat from future-funkateers like NAO and Kari Faux (who released a surprise EP this morning with the stellar and refreshingly funky Primary,) deep meditations from Jordan Rakei and Moses Sumney (both of which have new projects out today) and just a touch of cerebral darkness from Nosaj Thing and Jamie Lidell (the latter having just a launched his own music production podcast.) More than just an onslaught of new albums, there’s some residual rotations for singles from Demo Taped, Lizzo and Elujay, while Nai Palm and Snoh Aalegra pulled heartstrings with stripped-bare ballads. And for the true-schoolers, a fresh cut off the forthcoming Wu-Tang Clan collection, featuring Inspectah Deck and Redman.
All these things and more can be found in this week’s edition of The Round-Up. Stream it below and hit the link to follow us on Spotify for more curated excavations of unheralded catalogs and crucial cuts.
