As the new administration continues to roll-out ridiculous reforms and paranoias –as promised — it’s made for another dizzying week in pop and politics and the narrowing in-betweens. We now have the dismal and dystopian “Trumpcare” (more on that here,) Iraq got knocked off the list of countries subject to Trump’s Muslim ban, Nicki finally struck back, not once or twice but three times over. (bearing nowhere near the same weights as the former or their implications, but rap beef is the music world’s most tempting dish.)
But well outside of the ongoing on-record rap queen squabble, the week’s been fruitful. New sounds from GoldLink and Kaytranada capped yesterday’s feed with an irresistible new collaboration (featuring the talents of Jazmine Sullivan), Little Dragon two-stepped into very danceable territory with their latest single “Sweet” (announcing a new album to boot,) Njomza returned with another dreamy trap-laced cut. The week also saw album releases from Onra (delivering another excursion into his crates with a new installment of Chinoiseries) and Jacques Greene (blessing us with his debut full-length house experiment Feel Infinite.)
Naturally, this week’s edition of The Round-Up brings it all into one spot for your weekend wind-down, dotted with cuts that are still getting plenty of rotation. Catch-up on all you may have missed down below. Subscribe to our Spotify channel for even more selections.
