SZA Treats Fans to New Music In “PSA” Teaser

SZA celebrated turning 33 with a “PSA” visual teaser, which features new music from her long-awaited sophomore album.

SZA didn’t end her 33rd birthday without leaving fans with a parting gift. On Tuesday (November 8), the R&B vocalist dropped a surprise “PSA” visual. A 2-minute clip directed by Bradley J. Calder, the “PSA” video features an excerpt of new music paired with scenes of SZA surrounded by a ring of green fire, and coated in a bioluminescent paint.

“I don’t want nobody calling me anything but number one / Know I got problems, I don’t know how to take losses / Even when, even when they are lost causes,” she sings.

Remaining true to her alphabetical origins, the CTRL singer ends “PSA” with a message that reads as Morse code for “SOS.” Those three letters also appear in her recent “Shirt” video, which featured Atlanta actor LaKeith Stanfield. Her fans are now interpreting “SOS” to be the title of SZA’s sophomore album, expected to release by the end of the year.

In October, the singer-songwriter spoke to Complex about the direction of her upcoming album.

“I have no idea what it sounds like to anybody else. I really don’t know. It’s so bizarre,” she said. “It’s weird that I can’t put my finger on it. It’s a little bit of everything. It’s a little aggressive. Some parts are incredibly soft. Some of them are ballads. I don’t know. It’s all over the place. It’s just where my heart is.”
