SZA Looks To Follow-Up ‘CTRL’ By Working With Mark Ronson & Tame Impala
Would-be Grammy nominated music superstar, SZA, seems to be preparing a new album with the rock band Tame Impala and producer Mark Ronson.
SZA, the grand duchess of TDE, has had an impactful 2017 with her wonderfully crafted debut album, CTRL. Millions of audiophiles have adorned themselves with this album, and now, it seems that SZA is ready for more.
According to the Los Angeles Times, SZA revealed that she’s begun working on her next project and aims to bring Tame Impala and Mark Ronson into the studio with her. The news on her working with the Grammy Award-winning producer and the psychedelic rock band began while SZA was talking about her influences and style.
“People grapple with labeling me as hip-hop, R&B or pop, and it’s interesting to me. I’m just making music,” SZA said. “I listen to Stevie Nicks. I love classical jazz. I love folk. I love rap. I love Modest Mouse. I’m making an album with Tame Impala and Mark Ronson. When you try to label it, you remove the option for it to be limitless. It diminishes the music.”
Early this past summer, Ronson and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker premiered a song during a joint DJ session at the Governor’s Ball Music Festival. Ronson even told Stereogum that the track was one of eight records he made with Parker, which would lead anyone to believe that an entire collaborative project with SZA is in the works.
