Sade, Snoop Dogg & Teddy Riley New Inductees to 2023 Songwriters Hall of Fame

Musical icons Sade Adu, Snoop Dogg, Teddy Riley and more have been inducted into the 2023 Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Sade Adu, Snoop Dogg and Teddy Riley are getting honored for their legendary penmanship. On Wednesday (January 18), it was announced that the three artists are new inductees of the 2023 Songwriters Hall of Fame, which will have a star-studded event is slated for Thursday, June 15that the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

As the latest inductees for  SOHF's 52nd Annual Induction and Awards Gala, Adu is credited for her classics as part of Sade ("Smooth Operator," "No Ordinary Love," "The Sweetest Taboo," "By Your Side," "Is It A Crime"). West Coast legend Snoop Dogg is receiving an accolade for key songs throughout his extensive career ("Drop It Like It’s Hot," "Nuthin' But A "G" Thang," "Young, Wild & Free," "Gin & Juice," "The Next Episode.") Teddy Riley, the centerpiece of R&B groups Guy and Blackstreet, will be honored for his songwriting on material from Keith Sweat ("Make It Last Forever," "I Want Her") Johnny Kemp ("Just Got Paid"), Guy ("I Like") and Bobby Brown ("My Prerogative").

Without them there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch . . . nothing, it all starts with the song and the songwriter," said SHOF Chairman and legendary musician Nile Rodgers in a statement. "We are therefore very proud that we are continually recognizing some of the culturally most important songwriters of all time and that the 2023 slate represents not just iconic songs but also diversity and unity across genres, ethnicity and gender, songwriters who have enriched our lives and, in their time, literally transformed music and the lives of billions of listeners all over the world.”
