Sarah Elizabeth Charles Connects With Christian Scott On “Change to Come”
The first release from Christian Scott’s Stretch Music imprint, Sarah Elizabeth Charles’ new single, “Change to Come” was written in the wake of Eric Garner’s murder.
Activist, singer-songwriter Sarah Elizabeth Charles has made an impact with her music. With her new album, Free of Form, soon to make its release in a few weeks on Oct. 6, Sarah is aiming to whet audiophiles’ appetites with the song “Change to Come”.
Featuring Christian Scott on trumpet, his Stretch Music imprint co-produced the album, as well as featured on several tracks. “Change to Come” was written back in 2014, in the wake of Eric Garner’s murder. Sarah, who was interviewed by NPR Music, mentioned that the song is “just general resistance to violence.” “It’s speaking to race relations and the issues that have existed because of the nature of the history and formation of this country.”
Free of Form, features performances from veteran band members Burniss Earl Travis II (bass), Jesse Elder (keys), and John Davis (drums). You can pre-order on Bandcamp (https://sarah-elizabeth-charles.bandcamp.com) and iTunes (http://bit.ly/SECiTunes).
