RZA Says He Recorded the “Bring Da Ruckus” Snare in an Elevator Shaft
RZA, one of the greatest producers of all time, has been known to have a trick or two up his sleeve.
And during an interview with ROLI, a London-based music technology company, he revealed some of those tricks. The folks at XXL unearthed this interview, which was from January of this year. During the interview, RZA spoke almost exclusively about sound and how it has affected his music.

More specifically, he spoke about how he used the sounds of NYC to enhance his production. During the interview RZA told a great story about crafting "Bring Da Ruckus," the opening track off of the Wu-Tang Clan's classic debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).
When speaking about creating the iconic snare from the song, the producer says:
"When we was making a song called 'Bring Da Ruckus,' we took the snare and put it in a elevator sound and recorded it."
RZA also talked about how he used martial arts noises strategically and creatively to edit out curses.
