Rihanna Shares New ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Single “Born Again”

Marking the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Rihanna has released new single “Born Again,” following “Lift Me Up” last month.

Rihanna is “Born Again” on her new single for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Cowritten by Rihanna, The-DreamJames Fauntleroy, Ludwig Göransson, the emotional ballad makes Rih’s second solo track of 2022.

“I’d give my heart to this place/I’d give my whole soul and whatever it takes, never run away,” she sings on “Born Again.” “And I’d relive this just to see your face again/I know that you’d do the same, born again.”

While fans anticipate Rih’s ninth album, her long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Anti, the singer has remained secretive about her next project although she’s headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime performance.

“Super Bowl is one thing, new music is another thing,” Rihanna told The Associated Press. “Do you hear that, fans? Because I knew, the second I announced this, they’re gonna think my album is coming. I need to get work. But I do have new music coming out. But we’ll see. Unrelated, but a special project.”

“Born Again” follows Rihanna’s comeback single “Lift Me Up,” also featured on the Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Co-written by Tems, Rihanna, Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler and Göransson, “Lift Me Up” also received a music video directed by Autumn Durald Arkapaw.

Earlier this week, Rih premiered her Prime Video special Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 4 with performances from Anitta, Burna Boy, Don Toliver, and Maxwell, as well cameos from Taraji P. Henson, Taylour Paige, Simu Liu, Bella Poarch and Winston Duke.
