Prayers are up for Tom Petty, as we learn the rocker reportedly suffered a heart attack last night.
According to TMZ, the “Freefalling” singer was rushed to emergency care late last night after being discovered unconscious in his home. He was put on life support but that appears to have been pulled after it appeared that Petty had no brain activity upon arrival at the hospital. The 66-year-old singer and songwriter had just concluded a massive tour with The Heartbreakers at the end of September and was slated to perform in NYC this month. He was part of one of the single greatest renditions of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” alongside Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and a fully-incendiary Prince. You can watch that in its entirety below.
The story is still developing. Our hearts are with his family and loved ones in this trying time.
