It’s that time of the year again.
Okayplayer and OkayAfrica’s Music Editors talk trends, highlights, and the best music of the year on Red Bull Radio’s “Peak Time” series.
OkayAfrica’s Kam Tambini and Okayplayer’s Ivie Ani (myself) will be playing and discussing music that shaped the cultural landscape of 2018. We’re discussing everything from hip-hop to Afrobeats, highlighting the African diaspora essentials of the year, along with a few overlooked favorites, and some not-so-favorites (we’ll have hot takes on deck as well).
Over the next two weeks, Red Bull’s Vivian Host will welcome respected journalists and critics from a variety of publications to discuss the biggest breakouts, triumphant returns, and cultural moments that shaped the past year – featuring the New Yorker’s Hua Hsu and Amanda Petrusich, NPR’s Andrew Flanagan, The FADER’s Rawiya Kamier, Pitchfork’s Puja Patel and Noah Yoo, plus editorial staff from Complex, FACT, Remezcla, Noisey, and RBMA.
All this week, the finest journalists in the land are joining us to go through the BEST MUSIC of 2018 (and maybe some of the worst). Join us every day from NOON – 2PM NYC on your airwaves. https://t.co/ZZLbnRJMXc pic.twitter.com/qnSm9WEpia
