The singer was already facing 40-70 years for charges of aggravated sexual abuse in Illinois.

On Thursday night, R. Kelly was arrested for an additional 13 counts of federal sex trafficking and child pornography charges.

The following day, a federal indictment was filed in Brooklyn, charging the singer with five counts for racketeering and violations of the Mann Act. It accuses the singer of bringing a minor to California and committing rape, seduction, abduction, carnal abuse of a child, as well as allegedly exposing at least one minor to an STD.

Now, a TMZ report has unveiled precisely what led to the new round of indictments. According to the publication, federal investigators allegedly culled 20 more tapes depicting the sexual abuse of minors from members of Kelly's staff and entourage. Gerald Griggs, an attorney representing the family of Joycelyn Savage, adds that Kelly's affiliates flipped when pressured by investigators.

The singer is already facing 40-70 years for charges of aggravated sexual abuse stemming from his February arrest in Illinois. Neither his team nor federal investigators have replied to requests for comment.
