Listen to Prince’s Previously Unreleased Ballad “Why the Butterflies”

A new Prince goodie has been released

On September 21st, the Prince estate will release a new project from the iconic artist. Called Piano and a Microphone 1983, the project is a collection of songs that were recently found in the Paisley Park vault.

Those songs were tracks recorded at Prince’s Kiowa Trail studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. All the tracks were recorded by Prince. All tracks are live cassette recordings, featuring only Prince and a piano.

On Thursday, September 13th, Noisey premiered a previously unreleased track from Prince. The song is called “Why the Butterflies” and is an epic six-and-a-half minute ballad from the legendary musician.

“Why the Butterflies” is one of three unreleased songs that will be featured on Piano and a Microphone 1983.
