N.E.R.D. Return with Searing Swagger on “Lemon,” feat. Rihanna

Following years of teasing and recent sightings of now-confirmed promo, N.E.R.D. is back.

Suppose we should have seen it coming, but Pharrell, Chad and Shay have returned with their first new single as N.E.R.D. this morning.

Courtesy of Zane Lowe and Beats 1, the new track “Lemon” has arrived featuring a swaggering verse from Rihanna. The searing and minimalistic production finds Pharrell tapping into a rare political vein and is accompanied by an electric, footwork-friendly piece of eye-candy. You can watch it above.

The single arrives as their first in two years (reuniting in 2015 for a soundtrack cut to The Spongebob Movie,) with the group’s last studio album arriving in 2010’s Nothing. This weekend they’ll hit the stage at ComplexCon, their first group performance since a 2014 stint at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw, a place where dreams really do seem to come true.
