Two years ago, DJ Khaled had repurposed the hit ’90s song “Maria Maria” for his track “Wild Thought” with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. Now, it seems he’s trying to do it again with “Just Us,” using a hit from the 2000s.

Taken from his recently released album Father of Asahd, the track features SZA and samples Outkast‘s “Ms. Jackson.” Or, more accurately, it’s a more updated take on the instrumental to the Outkast classic, similar to what Khaled did to Santana’s “Maria Maria” for “Wild Thoughts.”
Both Andre 3000 and Big Boi are credited on the track. “Ms. Jackson,” a track from the duo’s 2000 album Stankonia, was inspired by 3000’s relationship with Erykah Badu and her mother.
Khaled has also released the music video for “Just Us,” which finds him and SZA battling against countless warriors as the latter takes her place on a throne. Directed by Joseph Kahn, the video is reminiscent of the 2006 action film 300.
Father of Asahd also features Nas, Cardi B, JAY-Z, Buju Banton, John Legend, Rick Ross, and Future, as well as Nipsey Hussle, who appears on the motivational “Higher” with John Legend. Khaled dropped the music video for “Higher” on Friday, which Hussle filmed alongside Khaled and Legend before he was killed.
