Eric R. Holder Jr., the 33-year-old Los Angeles man convicted of Nipsey Hussle's 2019 murder, has been sentenced.

A Los Angeles judge has handed down a long-awaited sentence in the Nipsey Hussle murder trial.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Judge H. Clay Jacke has sentenced Eric R. Holder Jr., the 33-year-old local man convicted of the rapper's 2019 murder, to a total of 60 years to life. Holder received 25 years to life for Hussle's murder, another 25 years to life "sentencing enhancement" for using a gun in the murder, and an additional 10 years in prison for the shooting of two other men accompanying Hussle on the day he was murdered outside of his own clothing store.

The sentencing, which was postponed for unknown reasons in November, concludes a nearly four-year trial. Holder has been the only suspect ever wanted in the filmed killing of the rapper and was initially convicted on all three charges last July. Holder's attorney, Aaron Jensen, argued the charge should be downgraded to manslaughter because the crime was committed in a fit of "heated passion" after he was accused of snitching. However, Deputy District Attorney John McKinney claimed Holder, who was himself a rapper, was driven by a deep jealousy of Hussle.

Holder and Hussle, who was born Ermias Asghedom, grew up together in Los Angeles and were both members of Rollin’ 60s set of the Crips.

Nipsey Hussle's murder was felt throughout his hometown, where he has remained an impactful force for good in the community through the STEM programs he invested in andt the local anti-gentrification movement he fueled. The City of Los Angeles mourned the rapper's death with weeks of memorials and tributary gestures, while his peers in entertainment honored him with a star-studded salute at the 62nd annual Grammys, where his songs "Racks In The Middle" and "Higher" took home the awards for "Best Rap Performance" and "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration."
