Watch DJ Khaled, Kirk Franklin, Meek Mill, John Legend, & More Honor Nipsey Hussle at the 2020 Grammys

DJ Khaled put together a star-studded rendition of “Higher,” in dedication to Nipsey Hussle.

Long live Nipsey Hussle.

DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, John Legend, Roddy Ricch, YG, and Kirk Franklin just performed a stirring dedication to Nipsey Hussle at the 2020 Grammys.

Meek Mill and Roddy Ricch — who currently has the number one song in the country — started out the performance. Then the performance shifted to “Higher,” DJ Khaled’s powerful song with Nipsey and John Legend. YG then proceed to come out and spit a verse. Kirk Franklin and a choir then came out to bring more energy to the performance.

“Higher” was one of the standout singles from Khaled’s latest album, Father of Asahd, which was released in May 2019.

Nipsey Hussle wasn’t the only person honored: near the end of the performance, a photo of Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash earlier in the day, was displayed right next to Nipsey.

It’s been a bittersweet evening for the Nipsey Hussle family. Nipsey won a Best Rap Performance Grammy earlier in the evening.

During the acceptance speech, Lauren London, longtime girlfriend of Hussle, said:

“I speak on behalf of the family in honor of Nip who was a phenomenal vessel. Nip did it not just for the awards but for the people and God allowed him to use this music to speak his truth, give his wisdom and [that’s] something we will always be able to live with.”
