4 New Hip-Hop & R&B Albums You Should Be Listening To (Week of February 3)

Ella Mai and Ebony Riley have dropped R&B projects on this New Music Friday. Additional releases from indie singer RAYE and Memphis rapper Finesse2tymes have also arrived. 

Just in time for sad girl season, lover girl Ella Mai has released the deluxe version of Heart On My Sleeve. It features a few new tracks that expound upon the sound she’s perfected in the modern R&B market. 

Ebony Riley shares her debut self-titled project – known by many as a supermodel, she's pivoting and we're impressed. RAYE unleashes her debut album My 21st Century Blues.

Finesse2tymes drops his latest 90 Days, an autobiographical compilation. It features Tay Keith, Moneybagg Yo, Gucci Mane, and Lil Baby.

Ella Mai returns and serves up some timely cuts from her memorable 2022 album. “This Is” samples the beloved cut “This Is For the Lover in You” by Shalamar. The new additions are emotional and fitting.

Ebony Riley is starting the year off with her refreshing self-titled R&B EP. It features some slick and punchy production – her voice is self-assured and compelling enough to land her on our radar for the rest of the year.

Now an indie artist RAYE shares her debut release which is punchy and a smidgen experimental since there are quite a few pop-leaning, electronic cuts – there are also some gospel influences too. Overall, most of the tracks are leaning heavily towards R&B, and the earnest songwriting makes that clear.

Finesse2tymes – 90 Days

You can hear the grit throughout Finesse2Tymes’ latest EP 90 Days. The Memphis rapper is laying it all bare on this project. It's a solid listen.
