The year appears to be moving ahead full steam, and this week’s new albums reflect that. The standout of the week goes to EARTHGANG who have finally revealed GHETTO GODS, it was worth the wait. The album is stacked with features from J. Cole, Musiq Soulchild, Ari Lennox, Baby Tate, and more talent. GHETTO GODS is a substantial, bass-heavy drop.
Robert Glasper has been teasing the latest installment of his Black Radio albums. Now, the newest album is here: Black Radio III. It’s everything we imagined it to be, it’s a reflective, fulfilling album with modern R&B acts. H.E.R., Ant Clemons, and Tiffany Gouché offer up stunning contributions. Lalah Hathaway, Ledisi, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Yebba are also essential parts of the expansive compilation.
Then there’s Conway The Machine who has dropped God Don’t Make Mistakes. No surprise here that the album includes Benny the Butcher. Jill Scott, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne are a few artists that round out the features of the Hit-Boy and The Alchemist-produced release. Mach Hommy is still releasing new projects, his latest is Dump Gawd. CircoLoco Records and NEZ have shared CLR 002.
Indie acts are also unveiling works worth paying attention to. Dreamer Isioma has unleashed their experimental album Goodnight Dreamer. Jazz Cartier’s Fleur Print (Vol. 2) surfaces. Rob Milton puts together a riveting project: Showtime. Taylor Belle makes a mark with her new EP Out Of Body. Also, Blue Lab Beats drops Motherland Journey a sticky and funky album injected with hints of soul.
