Black Star Unveils New Madlib-Produced Track On 'The Midnight Miracle' Podcast

It's unknown if the track will also appear on the long-awaited Black Star album that Madlib is producing entirely.

The Midnight Miracle, the podcast series created and hosted by Dave Chappelle, Yasiin Bey, and Talib Kweli, just released its first two episodes, with the second one featuring a new Black Star track.

The track — no details have been provided on its name — comes at the end of "Gladiator Circus World," a politically-charged episode that finds the trio tackling everything from social media to Donald Trump giving Rush Limbaugh the Medal of Freedom.

Both "Gladiator Circus World" and "How to Inspire" — the first episode of the series — dropped on May 11. The latter is available to listen to on Luminary, on social media platforms Instagram and YouTube, and on Apple Podcasts, while the former is only available on Luminary.

Prior to the release of the episodes, Chappelle teased the series with a trailer where he recounted a hilarious mushroom trip in New York City that took him from Central Park to a comedy club’s stage in a horse and carriage. In recalling the moment, Chappelle also shared how he told the audience at the comedy club that he was tripping on shrooms, which ended up working his favor.

"Once they were in on the joke and I knew we were on the same page, I was a courageous comedian and I swear to god for the next two hours — you’re only supposed to do a 20-minute spot, but you know, I was on one — I was the funniest man alive as far as I was concerned," he said.

Madlib and Kweli recently spoke about the long-awaited sequel to Black Star's 1998 debut album, with the former explaining that the album's delay is on him.

"The only thing I’ve got to do is figure out what I used for some of the songs," the producer said. "I’m the type of producer that just freestyles my beats. I don’t even really get what I’m doing, I just keep going, you know?"
