YoungBoy Never Broke Again's Probation Will Not Be Revoked

A judge has added terms to Young Boy Never Broke Again's probation.

A Baton Rouge state judge has chosen not to revoke Louisiana  rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again's probation, opting instead to add a number of special conditions.

The judge ordered that the rapper have a GPS monitor installed, complete a domestic abuse violence program, enroll in a GED program, undergo counseling, and complete community service work at the New Orleans Mission. He must also reside in New Orleans, refrain from bars or clubs, and not leave Louisiana for at least the next six months, with an exception to Atlanta visits for court appearances. The rapper is also forbidden from posting on social media.

In May, the 18-year-old, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, formerly known as NBA YoungBoy, pleaded guilty to a reduced aggravated assault with a firearm charge in a nonfatal 2016 drive-by shooting in Baton Rouge. He was given a suspended 10-year prison sentence in August and was put on active supervised probation for three years by District Judge Bonnie Jackson. One of the terms of his probation was that he remain both arrest- and conviction-free.

After video footage surfaced last month that appeared to show him physically assaulting his girlfriend in a hotel hallway, YoungBoy was arrested in Florida on a fugitive warrant from Georgia on domestic violence-related kidnapping and assault charges. The East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's Office reportedly filed a motion asking Jackson to revoke his probation. According to a report inThe Advocatein the motion, prosecutor April Leon called the rapper "a threat to society and the safety of others."

YoungBoy's attorney, James Manasseh, has said in a statement the allegation in Georgia is "not nearly as severe as it's been made out to be."
