Nas and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra are coming together for a special occasion.

Nas is helping the Detroit Pistons with their Black History Month celebration this year. The Nasir rapper will be performing his seminal debut album Illmatic alongside the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

The concert will take place on March 5 at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Detroit and will serve as the last event for the Pistons' celebration.

Proceeds from the event will go toward porgrams from the Detroit Pistons' partnership with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Sphinx Organization, the latter of which "provides opportunities to young African-American and Latino string players to develop and showcase their talents in the communities they serve."

Tickets go on sale this Saturday (January 26) via Ticketmaster.

Back in 2014, Nas performed Illmatic with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. In February 2018, the concert was aired on PBS as a part of its Great Performances series. The film has a bunch of great footage showing Nas' upbringing, as well as how he prepared for the performance.

"I hope you can look through the dream with me and see the journey I took to be on the stage with an orchestra," Nas says in the episode. "I knew it was bigger than what was just on the record. And it was like 'This is what it's about.'"

Last year, the rapper released his twelfth studio album Nasir.
