Mulatto drops her newest single “Muwop” featuring Gucci Mane offering up another reason why she’s a name worth paying attention to this year.
Gucci’s “Freaky Girl” is a beloved staple from the Atlanta rappers cult mixtape days. The sample of this track is a part of a growing trend that can’t be ignored: classic hip hop songs being mixed into more modern singles. We saw it with Saweetie’s breakout single “My Type” and Cardi B’s “Bickenhead” from her debut studio album Invasion of Privacy. “Muwop” is the latest to join the bunch.
After teasing the track a bit on social media, her first verse makes it clear she didn’t come to play: “I’m a Freek-A-Leek/But I can’t let a broke nigga beat/Know we from the streets/So when you see me nigga don’t speak.”
Here’s another staple verse by Mulatto:
“This boy think I love him, bitch I’m Big Latto not Suzie/Film him eatin’ this coochie/I swear my life is a movie/Walked ond nasty with Boosie and now I got one with Gucci.”
Gucci matched Mulatto’s energy on “Muwop” when he rapped:
“Tried to sign Mulatto but she was signed already/Chopsticks like Karreuche/I’ma film, make a movie/Sick and tired of Big Gucci/Couldn’t retire for Gucci/Can’t expire, work for hire, favorite rapper is Gucci/Favorite trapper is Gucci/I’m a legend like 2Pac.”
Mulatto has been successfully garnering attention throughout the summer alongside her peers which include Alabama’s buzzy star Flo Milli. At just 21 she’s continuing her reign within the industry by serving up brash and aggressive verses beyond her biggest single “Bitch From Da Souf.”
